About Flávia
Flávia studied biology from 2003-2006 and obtained a Master degree in Biochemistry in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. She came to Germany in 2009 and received the PhD in Biochemistry in 2013 (Goethe University).
She joined the VRC in 2014 as a post-doctoral fellow and was granted a DFG in 2019 (Individual grant, Vascular function of the Cytochrome Reductase P450). She leads a group of 3 PhDs and her research interests lie in decoding how the metabolism of fatty acids, cholesterol and amino acids in endothelial cells controls cardiovascular function. Her group employs large-scale analysis (untargeted/targeted metabolomics and transcriptomics), metabolic reconstruction and clinically relevant in vivo mouse models for translational cardiovascular research.
